In todays class we had some people do their presentations. I learned a little bit about some hunger organizations, such as Care. Care is a non-profit organization that help people around get the food they need.
Todays class was our first time meeting since before break. We talked about Political Geography and how the world is organized. We talked about the categories a Country, Nation and State. Then we got into more detail with culture and religion and what each nation/state does.
In todays class we had a pop quiz. It was ten questions worth twenty points. When I went to turn it in Mr. Schick started calling me squishy because I was soaking wet due to a big water ballon popping on me a few minutes before lunch. Then we went over the test and talked about it.
In class today we learned some new terms. We learned what an Agora and a Polis is. An agora is a public area for assemblies and markets. Polis is a city state in ancient Greece especially as considered in its ideal form for philosophical purposes. we learned that the year 508 BC was important to the greeks because thats the year they established democracy. We learned who Socrates was and what he did and that he was sentenced to death by drinking poison. The last thing we learned about was the Socratic Method this is a cooperative argumentative form of communication.
